🌟 Editor's Note
The main stories this week are boring re-hashes of the last few week’s news, so here are a couple of weird stories for your weekend.
🗞️ Some Actually Interesting News Things
Kenya, Nebraska, & Werner
It seems that there was a social media storm this week where claims where made that Werner is going to hire drivers from Kenya after a labour mobility “memorandum of understanding” was signed between Nebraska, where Werner is headquartered, and Kenya. With the continuing fallout from the Florida U-Turn crash any possibility of more foreign drivers brings incites a strong reaction from certain quarters, and that happened here.
From what I can see it seems like the MOU doesn’t even mention truck drivers, and Werner flat-out denies that they are hiring, or even discussed hiring, Kenyan drivers:
Werner Enterprises wishes to clarify that we are not involved in any agreements or discussions regarding the recruitment of Kenyan truck drivers to the United States. Any claims suggesting otherwise are just false.

Want a CDL? Got Swedish Fish?
Last week a restaurant owner was organizing bribes to get people CDLs without proper testing, this week - in a separate case - someone is paying bribes to get people CDLs in candy & drinks. 🤦♂️
bribes […] such as cases of bottled Fiji, VOSS and Essentia water, cases of bottled Arizona Iced Tea, coffee and tea products, energy drinks, and Twizzlers and Swedish Fish candy,
Photos of Truck Drivers with Giant Lottery Checks
An article about a truck driver winning $100,000 in the lottery popped up in my reader as I was writing today’s newsletter, but I thought the funniest part was the list of related stories, with photos of drivers with their giant lottery checks!
